In 2011 we challenged ourselves to eat locally in honor of Earth Day.  Amy was in Ohio whipping up some decadent grits, Hillary in New York creating the most luscious lavender and honey ice cream.

This year we’re both in the same region and we’re hopping on board the Northeast Organic Farming Association’s NY Locavore Challenge.  For the month of September they’re hoping folks will take that extra step to buy and eat local.  They even provide a month’s worth of locavore challenges – take a look and join in!

September is such a bountiful month at our local greenmarkets – stalls are overflowing with the last of summer’s bounty while apples, squash, and grapes start to join the party.  Check back this coming week for our delicious meals made from all locally grown goodness.
