It’s a fact: bacon improves almost anything. From egg dishes to soups to cocktails, that salty smokiness works like a charm. So why not extend that list of bacon buddies to fruit?
These bacon-wrapped figs stuffed with blue cheese are a hit at any party, particularly now that the weather is getting colder. They truly taste like fall, not to mention that they are pretty darn quick and easy to throw together!
You will need for 5 appetizer servings (2 figs per appetizer portion works well!)
10 figs
5 strips of bacon, halved lengthwise
2-3 oz blue cheese
Toothpicks
Preheat your oven to 400 F.
Slice each fig down one side, deeply from stem to bottom. Jam as much blue cheese as you can fit in there, wrap the fig with bacon, then secure the bacon by sticking a toothpick all of the way through the fig.
Assemble the stuffed and wrapped figs on a sheet pan, and bake for about 15-20 minutes, depending on how well done you like your bacon.
Allow the figs to cool for at least 5 minutes, then serve!
They literally burst with flavor — salty, sweet, and smoky, what an adventure for the palate!
